Explore this 3.2-mile loop trail near Boulder, Colorado. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 15 min. Great views of Boulder.
A Boulder hiking staple. It's steep, but the 360 degree views at the top are worth it.
This is a moderate hike, consistent uphill (excellent views), about 2 hrs round trip, if you’re not accustomed to the altitude, plan for many stops and bring extra water. This is a popular trail and a clear route. Dogs are welcome on leash. Parking is easy, along the road, just after the hospital, or across the road there is a hiking parking area.
Most people go to Chataqua Park for hiking, but Sanitas is closer and receives a fraction of the visitors. If you want a special experience, I recommend driving up Sunshine Canyon an extra mile or so and beginning the hike from Lion's Lair Trailhead--gorgeous views, and you'll feel like you have the entire trail to yourself. The trail takes you all the way to the top of Sanitas.
