To get to Catarata Manantial de Agua Viva, you need to drive 8 miles south of Tarcoles bridge and take a left towards Villas Lapas Hotel. Travel 3 miles up the dirt road and you will see a sign that says 'Cascada.' Park your car there and take the well marked trail uphill for about an hour and you will be rewarded with an awesome site and a cool swim. The waterfall is broken into 3 distinct sections with the tallest one being about 300 feet. This waterfall is not well known by tourists so it is rare to find other people there.

Call to +506 2645-1017; admission Us$20; This 200m-high waterfall is claimed to be the highest in the country. From the entrance, it’s a steep 3km (45-minute) hike down into the valley; at the bottom, the river continues through a series of natural swimming holes. The falls are most dramat- ic at their fullest, during the rainy season, though the serene rainforest setting is beautiful any time of year. A 5km dirt road past Hotel Villa Lapas leads to the prima- ry entrance to the falls. Keep an eye out for brightly colored poison-dart frogs as well as the occasional pair of scarlet macaws.

Take a hike to the Manantial Waterfall. It's about 35-min drive north from the loft. A guide will provide you with a map to find the deep pools in the river and the waterfall. Comfortable walking shoes, with swimwear underneath clothing is recommended.
