An absolute must see if you're visiting Tasmania. We recommend you set aside a day to visit Cradle. It's 98km away but because of the windy mountain roads it takes about 1.5 hours to get there. Note that there's no food/drink available in the park, so take a picnic or grab something from the visitor's centre. You leave your car at the visitor centre and take a shuttle bus into the park. Be sure to hop off at RONNIE CREEK. It's the start of the Overland Track. But more importantly, you're guaranteed to see lots of WOMBATS. We always see at least 10-20 wombats every time we go there. Lookout for them, at first they look like big rocks :). While you're there, be sure to check out Waldheim (Wilderness Home). The Weindorfer's Forest Walk is also near there and is one of our favourite walks. Another favourite is Dove Lake Circuit. It's a lot busier though and takes several hours to do. We usually do it in 4 hours or so. But you don't need to do the whole thing - just go as far as you'd like and then turn around.

Cradle Mountain is the poster child of Tasmania for a reason! World class views, hikes and nature experiences abound here, all a scenic 45min drive from your Felons Corner base.

Iconic Cradle Mountain National Park, with its ancient rainforests and alpine heaths, is a must do day trip for sight seeing. The park provides a rich habitat for wildlife, including Tasmanian devils, quolls, platypus, echidna and several bird species. The Dove Lake Walk takes approximation 90 minutes, other walks available, restaurant and info centre.
