Perched like a theater box overlooking the twilight entertainment in the Zócalo, the Asador Vasco lays on good Oaxacan, international, and – as the name implies – Basque food. Long-standing fans rave about the creamy corn soup, grasshoppers, Spanish cheeses, and sea bream (besugo) in a traditional Basque sauce. Upscale. Expensive. Excellent grilled lamb chops. Attentive service. bird's eye view of the Zocalo. Robust singing groups dressed in 16th Century tights and capes.
